Estimating the curve number for conventional and soil conservation technologies using a rainfall simulator

چکیده
The aim of the article was to verify curve number (CN) values given in National Engineering Handbook (NEH) methodology, whether they really correspond all wide-row crops. tested crops were maize, hops and potatoes grown using conventional soil conservation technologies. All these are classified as crops, but very different terms cultivation process. basis for calculation our CN field measurements carried out a rainfall simulator within time span from 2014 2020 on corresponding hydrological group B two repetitions: naturally dry an ARC II saturated III curve. results show that calculated are, principle, same NEH methodology. On contrary, certain difference recorded technologies with plant residues surface, case soil. Lower clearly seen no-till strip-till maize catch which confirmed by statistical tests, probably due interception surface roughness.

Surface runoff estimation in an upper watershed using geo-spatial based soil conservation service-curve number method
Runoff assessment and estimation is crucial for watershed management as it provides information that is needed to expedite the course of watershed planning and development. The most commonly used model due to its simplicity and versatility in runoff estimation is the soil conservation service curve number developed by the United States Department of Agriculture. The study estimates the surface ...

The process of precipitation – runoff of each basin, is influenced by hydrologic, geomorphology conditions, geological formation and vegetation. There are different methods in drainage basins. One way to estimate the runoff height is Curve Number (CN) method. That reperesents the hydrological behavior of basin. data were collected for statistics of climate and then topographic map of 1: 25000 a...

The rainfall and runoff relationship becomes an intriguing issue as urbanization continues to evolve worldwide. In this paper, we developed a simulation model based on the soil conservation service curve number (SCS-CN) method to analyze the rainfall-runoff relationship in Guangzhou, a rapid growing metropolitan area in southern China. The SCS-CN method was initially developed by the Natural Re...

In Iran, there is a general risk of runoff and flood, and since this country has a dry to semi-arid climate, its predominant rainfall is not evenly distributed in terms of time and place. Routine runoff at the earth's surface can lead to risks such as groundwater abatement, social issues such as population migration, erosion and loss of soil fertility, sedimentation in reservoirs and water q...

In recent decades, low-yielding rainfed farms have become known as the main sources of sediment production and soil erosion in the country. Therefore, more research is needed on the factors affecting erosion and sediment production in these areas. This research was carried out with the aim of studying the effects of slope and rainfall intensity on erosion between rainbow trout in test farms in ...
